Investment & Wealth Management

We have successfully designed, implemented and managed corporate and individual investment portfolios in varying markets since 1982.

We maintain strategic relationships with Charles Schwab & Co. (Schwab), Buckingham Strategic Partners (BSP), and Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA).

Charles Schwab & Co. (Schwab) serves as the firm’s custodian by holding and safeguarding client assets. They also provide us with additional support in areas such as compliance, technology, wealth management services, research and access to a wide range of investment products and expertise.

Buckingham Strategic Partners (BSP) provides us with various back-office services including client reporting, billing, securities trading, and educational / training support. These services allow us to spend more time with our clients, and less time on the day-to-day operational details.

Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) is a leader in developing asset class portfolios for institutional investors and independent investment advisors. DFA’s investments and securities are designed to help our clients improve performance through diversified, low-cost, and tax-efficient investment solutions. These investments are not available directly to individuals but are limited to a select group of financial firms like WMS Advisors, LLC.

 

Comprehensive Financial Planning

Our planning strategy begins with a thorough fact-finding and data collection process in order to fully understand our client's needs, objectives, and expectations. Based on this understanding, we are then able to develop a variety of planning concepts incorporating investment portfolio design, risk management, retirement, college, social security, tax, charitable and cash flow planning.

We have Certified Financial Planners ™ (CFP®) on staff who design and review every financial plan we create. The CFP® certification is recognized as the gold standard for personal financial planning.

 

Estates & Trusts 

As part of our wealth transfer planning, we provide guidance on planning, transition, protection and preservation for estates of all sizes to ensure a client’s existing plans are appropriate and matches their goals and objectives. We also develop ideas for planning, maintenance and compliance services for trusts of varying types including insurance, asset protection and special needs trusts. This includes a review of estate documents, estate summaries and beneficiary designations. We work with our professional network of attorneys and specialists to create, update and implement these plans.

 

Risk Management and Insurance Analysis

An integral part of our data gathering process and analysis includes completion of a detailed Client Profile Questionnaire as well as a review of existing insurances to evaluate risk from various sources including asset and income protection.   This wealth protection planning helps to ensure the assets a client has accumulated and will continue to accumulate in the future will be protected from creditors, adverse life events and risks such as disability, loss of income, death, long term care needs and medical costs. We routinely meet with our professional network to review and address these situations.

 

Who We Serve

WMS specializes in solutions for both active professionals and retired affluent individuals and families. We strive to build relationships by helping clients in every life stage, from individuals and newly married couples through multi generation families.  Our typical client has been with us for an average of 15 years. However, we welcome new clients that are just beginning to plan for their futures to allow us to help them with their financial planning needs. This allows us to provide a wide range of services based on their unique circumstances.

 

Our Pricing

WMS is a fee-based wealth management and financial planning firm. We charge an annual investment advisory fee that ranges between 0.65% to 1.00% based on the level of assets under management with us. The fee is automatically debited from the investment brokerage account(s) on a quarterly basis.

Our wealth management platform includes the above highlighted services as well as periodic reviews and meetings to ensure we continue to track toward our client’s goals and objectives. We are also available by phone or email any time our clients have questions or concerns about their finances or investments.

We also provide financial planning without investment management on a project basis wherein we charge by the hour, which ranges from $150 - $350 per hour, depending on staff utilization.
